Spectrometers & Systems for Raman Spectroscopy

Raman Systems for Robust, Reliable, Reproducible Raman Spectra

Enabling Innovative Raman Solutions

Industry leading Raman system offerings

Raman spectroscopy analyzes the light scattered back from a laser impinging on a sample. The wavelength shifts detected in the back-scattered light are so characteristic for the sample that they are often described as a molecular fingerprint.

Raman spectroscopy is not only highly specific but also fast and requires no sample preparation. As a result, it has long been the go-to identification technique of choice in safety and security applications for many years, and is now finding widespread use in medical diagnostics, quality control and biotechnology processes.

At Wasatch Photonics we develop and build bespoke Raman systems with the highest sensitivity for quick measurements, utmost reliability for Raman use even in rough environments, and with attention to the Raman user’s needs to simplify the application.

Raman Principles

  • Laser Scattering – monochromatic laser light is focused onto the sample to generate the Raman signal
  • Vibrational Spectroscopy – molecular vibrations shift the scattered laser wavelength leading to molecular specificity
  • Optical Resolution – typical Raman linewidths of 5-15 cm-1 can be resolved with array spectrometers
  • Signal Strength – Raman scattering is a weak process, high sensitivity detection is essential
