Proven Raman Probes for Optimized Signal Collection

Adapt sample interface without compromising collection efficiency

Typically, Raman signals are recorded in ‘epi-configuration’, in which the Raman signal is detected in the direction from which the excitation laser originates – collected with the same lens that focuses the laser. The WP RP Raman probes combines the optical components, all filters, mirrors, and lenses needed for this approach.

The influence of the Raman probe on the signal quality is often underestimated. Because Raman scattering is inherently weak, intense laser light is used for excitation. With interchangeable front optics, the probe directs and focusses the laser light onto the sample, collects the scattered light, suppresses the much stronger elastically scattered laser radiation using a combination of dielectric filters and mirrors in the probe, and finally images the emission with matching f/# onto the fiber or spectrometer.

Integrated Raman Probe
Achieve the highest Raman collection efficiency in the most compact form factor with the integrated Raman probe. Offering up to twice the throughput than the external probe, the integrated probe is typically the choice of OEMs, specifically in the handheld application space. This is available for 638, 785, 830 and 1064 nm only.

External Raman Probe

Enjoy Flexible Fiber-Coupled Probes

External Raman Probe

Available for all Raman wavelengths for the X, XM and XL products families. The external WP Raman probe plus the optical fibers interfacing to the laser and the spectrometer offers the greatest sampling flexibility and experimental configurability.

To maximize throughput, we have optimized the f/# of the WP RP probe optics to match the f/# of the Wasatch Raman spectrometer.

External Raman Probe Specifications

Our standard probe comes with a 4 cm long, 11 mm working distance probe tip that works well for most Raman applications. This probe can be easily reconfigured at the factory or by the user with one of the probe tips below to adapt to a new application or operating environment. OEMs may also couple directly to the probe body with their own sampling optics or probe barrel. Fibers for routing excitation light from the laser and collected light to the spectrometer are included.

Raman Sample Holders

Routine measurements out of the box

We offer sample holders for both our integrated and external Raman probes, allowing you to collect Raman data from circular vials and rectangular cuvettes. The holders allow you to adjust the location of the sample with respect to the probe lens and also feature a protective cap for laser safety and to reduce ambient light interference.
