Long-Term Stability for Trusted Qualification

Raman spectroscopy for complete peace of mind

A mainstay of incoming inspection in pharmaceutical and chemical production, rapid point-and-shoot Raman spectroscopy eliminates the need for sampling and waiting for laboratory results before materials are released into production. Its excellent specificity enables detection not only of mislabeled materials, but also of subtle deviations from expected quality, while also ensuring consistent quality of outgoing products.

Fraudulent substitution of high-quality products with cheaper alternatives is unfortunately common in today’s global economy. Examples include sunflower oil diluted and colored to resemble olive oil, or honey extended with sugar syrup. Beyond economic fraud, consequences can be severe or even fatal, such as when medications are replaced with ineffective substitutes or when toxic industrial alcohol is used in counterfeit beverages. In all cases, the molecular specificity of Raman spectroscopy enables reliable detection of adulteration.

To identify even small spectral deviations, a strong signal-to-noise ratio is essential. Long-term stability of system calibration is therefore critical to ensure consistent, day-to-day reliability in quality control.
