Home Products Raman Spectrometers & Systems X Series WP 638X Series Raman Spectrometer
Raman spectroscopy at 638 nm combines strong signal intensity with typically lower autofluorescence. Since Raman signal strength decreases with the fourth power of wavelength, 638 nm excitation provides greater Raman sensitivity than 785 nm while producing less fluorescence than 532 nm. 638nm excitation is typically used for SERS and Raman spectroscopy of trace analytes.
Available in laboratory and OEM form factors, the robust, modular opto-mechanical WP 638 X series supports both fingerprint and functional Raman ranges. It can be configured for laser integration, optical coupling, f/#, detector cooling and slit width.

Raman at 638 nm is a good alternate to the more popular Raman wavelength of 785 nm and is often used for applications like SERS (surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy). The choice between a flexible, probe-based Raman system and a fully integrated, compact one depends largely upon which optical coupling method is best for your application or sample.
