Cobra VIS OCT Spectrometer

3D imagining reinvented

Unlock the advantages of visible-light OCT with the Cobra VIS. Built on the proven architecture of our flagship Cobra-S spectrometer, Cobra VIS delivers high-resolution, high-speed imaging across the visible spectrum (400–700 nm).

Visible wavelengths enable simultaneous OCT structural imaging and spectroscopic measurement of blood oxygenation, adding a functional dimension to tissue imaging. This allows live 3D mapping of tissue perfusion with significant potential for research, diagnostics, and clinical applications. Because OCT resolution improves as wavelength decreases, vis-OCT offers a substantial advantage. With up to twice the resolution of 800 nm OCT systems, it enables more precise visualization and measurement of fine tissue structures.

Leveraging our spectrometer expertise, Cobra VIS incorporates diffraction-limited optics optimized for the full visible range, while advanced chromatic aberration compensation ensures maximum sensitivity, minimal roll-off, and consistently superior image quality.

  • Imaging option from 400 – 700 nm; collect blood perfusion data and ultra-high resolution OCT images simultaneously at 550 nm
  • Low crosstalk camera & diffraction-limited optics for exceptional roll-off; as little as 6 dB at 1.2 mm
  • Proprietary VPH gratings; highly efficient optical design with superior SNR & subpixel resolution
  • USB 3.0 interface option for 20-130 kHz models allows easy, cost-effective system integration
  • OEM ready: robust, compact & athermal

Cobra VIS part numbers are of the format CS550-[CWL]/[BW]-[kHz]-[camera][pixels]-[interface], where the e2v OctoPlus camera is represented by “OC”, 2K denotes 2048 pixels, and the interface is either camera link (up to 250 kHz, denoted by “-CL”) or USB 3.0 (up to 130 kHz, , denoted by “-U3”). Imaging depth stated is the theoretical value, calculated in air.
  • USB-3.0: 20kHz, 80kHz, 130kHz
  • Camera Link: 250kHz

Like our flagship Cobra-S 800, the Cobra VIS OCT spectrometer offers superior roll-off performance, as can be seen in this comparison of signal with imaging depth. With less roll-off, much deeper structures can be imaged clearly than is expected of typical 800 nm imaging.
